Grid spacing calculator

how far does price have to move before one grid level can close?

What this does. A grid bot only closes a trade when price travels from one level to the next. That distance is set by your range and your number of grids — not by the market. This works it out. It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere — this page is served with a policy that blocks it from making any network request at all.

Each level needs a move of

Why the number is a range, not one figure

Grid levels are spaced evenly in price, not in percent. The same gap is a bigger percentage when price is low and a smaller one when price is high. So the bottom of your range needs the largest move and the top needs the smallest.

The figure that matters for "will this fill" is the larger one, because that is the move required in the part of the range where levels are furthest apart in percentage terms.

What published guidance says

Two grid-bot tools publish a target for this number:

Bitsgap0.5–2% profit per grid. Their helpdesk states the tradeoff directly: more grids give frequent small profits, fewer grids give higher profit per fill but a lower probability of orders being filled.
Gainium0.5–1% per step, wider for more volatile assets.

These are their numbers, not mine, and they are guidance rather than a rule. This page does not tell you what to use. It shows you where your configuration sits next to what they publish, and leaves the decision with you.

What this doesn't tell you

It doesn't tell you whether your configuration is good. Tighter levels fill more often but earn less per fill and pay more in fees, and that tradeoff depends on your instrument, your fee tier and what price actually does — none of which this page knows.

It also says nothing about leverage, liquidation or position size. A grid that rarely fills is still holding a position the whole time.

And it is arithmetic about spacing, not a prediction. Knowing the distance a level needs does not tell you how often price will cover it. That is the question I didn't ask before I opened mine.
